Home/What does Benefits Decoder cost?
One price, what it covers, what is free without paying anything, and how the payment is handled.
$24, paid once. That covers you and your spouse, including both benefits guides, plus re-runs. There is no subscription and no account.
One price, one product. There are no tiers to choose between, nothing is held back behind a higher plan, and there is no per-plan or per-guide charge.
Every plan in your guide priced against the care you expect, your spouse's guide as well if you have one, and re-runs when a better document arrives or your answers change.
Changing your mind is the normal case rather than the exception. The plan that wins at light use often loses at heavy use, and being able to re-run it without paying again is the point.
No, nothing recurring and no account to cancel. If you do want to hear from us, the open enrollment reminder is a free mailing list you can join without paying for anything: two emails a year, one when open enrollment season starts and one when the figures behind the math change.
You choose a health plan once a year. Charging monthly for that would be charging you eleven times for nothing, which is why the list is free and separate from the product. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and we do not sell or share the list.
The five calculators and all of the guides are free and require no payment and no sign-up. So does the complete sample report, which shows exactly what the paid product produces.
The free calculators cover the true annual cost of two plans against each other, HSA versus FSA, COBRA, the subsidy cliff, and the exact contribution percentage that captures a full 401(k) match.
Stripe handles the payment entirely. Stripe collects your card details and an email for your receipt; we never see your card number and receive only an anonymous checkout code confirming payment.
That code is not connected to a name, and it is not connected to your answers or your report. It exists so that a paid decode can be re-run.
Because the alternative is being paid by someone other than you. Benefits Decoder takes no commission from any insurer, broker or plan, and runs no ads, which means the person it answers to is the person reading it.
A comparison tool funded by an insurer has a reason to prefer one answer. This one is funded by the reader, which is why it will tell you when two plans are genuinely a toss-up instead of manufacturing a winner.
Compare every plan in your benefits guide, or start with the free calculators.
